Arsenal are set to complete a deal for the Polish centre-back from Spezia
Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Spezia's 22-year-old Polish centre-back Jakub Kiwior for €20 million in the coming days.
Jakub Kiwior solves an important problem for Arsenal
According to several sources, Arsenal want Kiwior and are set to meet Spezia's asking price to complete the deal as soon as possible.
This will be Arsenal's second transfer in a matter of days after they recently completed the capture of Brighton winger Leandro Trossard.
Arsenal are light at the back, especially in the centre-back position, and have only one left-footed central defender in Gabriel Meghaeles, who has played all but one match for Arsenal this season.
An injury to the Brazilian means that the Gunners would have had to put a square peg in a round hole.
Arsenal sign special Serie A talent
However, with Kiwior's signing, Arsenal now have much-needed cover at centre-back and they have also secured one of the most prodigious defensive talents in Serie A.
Kiwior has played in 20 games for Spezia this season, missing only their last Serie A fixture, as he has established himself as one of the club's most important players.
The Polish defender also impressed with his country at the 2022 World Cup, where he started all of Poland's four games in Qatar.
Kiwior has caught the eye thanks to his ability on the ball, which has seen him even play in midfield at times for Spezia. He is great at carrying the ball but is also willing to put his body on the line for the club and ranks in the 92nd percentile for blocks by centre-backs in Europe's top five leagues.
He is set to complete the move to in the coming days as Arsenal speed the process along to avoid a deadline day rush
