Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou believes his Spurs side was unfortunate against Arsenal but has praised how his team reacted at the Emirates.

In a thrilling North London derby, Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, couldn’t contain his excitement as he praised his team’s courageous performance against arch-rivals Arsenal.

The match, which produced a pulsating four-goal thriller after a 2-2 draw, left fans of both clubs on the edge of their seats on Super Sunday.

Arsenal and Spurs showcased the kind of football spectable that makes this fixture one of the most highly anticipated in the Premier League.

Postecoglou, who took over reins at Tottenham in the summer, has been on a mission to instill a winning mentlaity and attractive style of play within the Spurs squad.

And during the North London derby, the Aussie watched as his players didn’t disappoint in a clash that proved to be a litmus test for their progress under him so far. 

The Lily Whites came from behind twice to earn a share of the spoils, with James Maddison and Heung Min-Son combining to great effect to ignore the Gunners all three points.

Postecoglou on Spurs’ bravery vs Arsenal

In a post-match press conference, the former Celtic boss effusively praised his players for their performance and fighting spirit against a good Arsenal side.

“Performance-wise we had to show a bit of everything we've got.,” Postecoglou told the Premier League. “They're a good, top team and we had to defend at times. But I thought we showed real courage and bravery just to keep playing our football.”

“ We certainly pressed agressively. We were unfortunate with both of the goals, an own goal and a penalty, but great character to come from behind in a difficult place twice,” he added.

The point was enough to see Postecoglou’s side move to fourth on the PL standings and above their North London rivals, Arsenal, who are fifth based on their inferior goal difference.
