From St Mary's Stadium, Kitende, MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, FUFA Technical Center, Njeru and now, the about-to-be-inducted Nakivubo Stadium, artificial turf is taking over.

However, while Ugandans continue to lay their complaints bare, the World's best player Lionel Messi hasn't found an issue with adapting to artificial turf in Major League Soccer.

"On the issue of artificial turf, the truth is it has been a while since I've played on artificial turf, but I have no problem adapting myself again," the Inter Miami star told CBS Sports Golazo.

The newly laid artificial turf at the Hamis Kiggundu developed Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium drew mixed reactions, most of which criticisms.

"In a country with abundant water resources, do we need a carpet in such a "world-class stadium?" renowned coach Asaph Mwebaze questioned in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, artificial turf holds its challenges as stadiums with this particular surface are not permitted to host 'CAF category 1' matches.

Artificial turf surface pitches have also been identified to possess higher risk rates of injuries than natural grass.

However, artificial turf has proved to be much easier to maintain than natural grass.
