On Friday, Arua Hill SC registered its first victory of the 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign against UPDF FC in Adjumani.
The Leopards defeated the Army side 2-0 courtesy of Rashid Abdullahi and Gaddafi Wahab's goals scored in the 23rd and 68th minutes, respectively.
Before this encounter, Livingstone Mbabazi's charges were the only team in the top flight yet to win a game.
The Kongolo's first victory comes after eight outings where they had only managed a point against fellow strugglers KCCA FC in a 1-1 draw in Adjumani on Matchday six.
Arua Hill, who had two brilliant first seasons in the UPL, finishing fifth and fourth in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns, respectively, have battled challenges on and off the field this season.
They no longer host their home games from their traditional home, Barifa Stadium in Arua, after it was vandalized by an unknown group, destroying the pavilion, fence, and restrooms, hence forcing FUFA to deem it unsuitable for UPL games.
With administrative struggles also affecting them, they recently appointed Hassan Mugerwa Takoowa, and he will be proud that the team won its first game of the season on his first game in office.

Mbabazi, who has stated he took over as the majority shareholder, has subsequently put the club on the market for a worthy buyer, who will come in handy as a solution to the current financial woes.
Additionally, the Leopards lost many players, including their captain Rashid Toha and youngster Innocent Media, who were vital team members.
However, they stayed with some instrumental figures like Gaddafi Wahab and Atendele Geriga and hope to build the team around them back to the top.
