One of the hottest strikers in the Uganda Premier League during the 2020/21 season, Samuel Kayongo Ssekamatte, switched from Soltilo Bright Stars FC to newly promoted side Arua Hill SC ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

From scoring 12 league goals at Bright Stars in 2021, Ssekamatte managed only three for Arua Hill in 2022 in what he describes as a challenging adventure orchestrated by an injury.

"It looked rosey when I joined Arua Hill because they have one of the best coaches in the country Charles Livingstone Mbabazi," Ssekamatte narrated to Pulse Sports

"We did preseason for three months, and I was doing so well, but towards the end, I got a fracture which disorganized me."

"It took me time to get back to myself to adjust to the new team, just like any other player when you encounter an injury."

Ssekamatte added: "I lost that touch of me, and it became difficult for me to get back that rhythm, but again Arua Hill itself is not an easy place to play, so that is how tough it was for me."

After a season and a half, the former KCCA FC player was on the move again, joining Uganda Cup champions BUL FC during the January transfer window.

"As a player, you always have to be ready for any situation, so when an opportunity came for me to join BUL."

"I did not hesitate, and I believe I will be able to reestablish myself and help the team fight and achieve its set targets."

"Besides unpredictable injuries, I do not see myself going through what I went through at Arua Hill while here."

"I am familiar with the coach Alex Isabirye and his assistants, and they are willing to help me with my teammates," he noted.

The 29-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Oil Manufacturers and had a good start scoring on his debut when he equalized for BUL in a one-all league stalemate with Blacks Power FC at FUFA Technical Center, Njeru, on Friday last week.
