Asisat Oshoala outshines Super Falcons teammate Oyedupe Payne as Barcelona beat Sevilla 4-0
Super Falcons of Nigeria duo Asisat Oshoala and Oyedupe Payne were both in action in a Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino fixture played on Saturday, January 7, 2023.
Oshoala featured for Barcelona against Payne's Sevill in a game that ended 4-0 at the 6000-capacity Estadi Johan Cruyff Stadium.
Oshoala converted a ball through to her by Clàudia Pina in the 11th minute to put Barcelona ahead.
In the 34th minute, Oshoala returned the favor by providing the assist as Pina scored the second for Barcelona.
Pina missed from the penalty spot as Barcelona dominated the rest of the game and would take a two-goal advantage to the halftime break.
Barcelona continued to dominate and scored the third in the 70th minute when Salma Paralluelo converted a ball through to her by Patricia Guijarro.
Aitana Bonmatí provided the fourth goal as Paralluelo grabbed her second of the game.
Oshoala and Payne
Oshoala and Payne two key members of the Super Falcons of Nigeria both put in decent performances for Barcelona and Sevilla respectively.
Payne played all 90 minutes for Sevilla as they suffered a massive loss. Oshoala on the other hand scored and provided an assist to help Barcelona get all three points against a tricky opponent.
The five-time Confederation of Africa (CAF) Women's Player of the Year featured for 76 minutes before Head Coach Jonatan Giráldez took her off for Bruna Vilamala.
Oshoala who won the pichchi title as the top scorer in the league last season now has a total of five goals this campaign.
Oshoala returns to action for Barcelona in their next league fixture against Osasuna.
Payne will aim to return to winning ways with Sevilla against Villarreal in their next league outing scheduled for Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
