Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala, also known as 'Agba Baller' in Nigerian local parlance, was named the 2023 CAF Women's Player of the Year at the CAF Awards 2023.
Her victory meant she once again asserted her dominance as Africa’s undisputed queen, as it was a historic sixth title for the Nigerian and FC Barcelona striker.
The 29-year-old has undeniably become the greatest and most decorated women's footballer in African history, having not just continental titles but various international club titles, records, and awards.

The year 2014 marked the beginning of Oshoala's rise to stardom. While still an U20 player, she won two awards that year.
The Youth Player of the Year and Women African Footballer of the Year.

Oshoala won the 2016 Women’s Player of the Year Award to cap an exciting year in which she won the top scorer award at the Women’s AFCON in Cameroon.
As a player at Arsenal Ladies FC, she scored six goals in helping Nigeria to the African title, their eighth title from the competition’s past ten editions.

Oshoala had a successful 2017 season, winning the best striker award in the Chinese women's top-flight league, and won the Super Cup and league title with Quanjian.
She scored 19 goals in all competitions for her club to emerge the best female footballer in the continent.

At the 28th edition of the CAF Awards in 2019, 'Agba Baller' equaled the record of her compatriot Perpetua Nwokocha, winning it a fourth time.

CAF Awards (2022)
For a record fifth title, the 2021-22 campaign was arguably Oshoala’s best yet as she played a vital role in Barcelona's treble charge – the Spanish Women's Super Cup, Copa de la Reina, and the Primera Division.
Oshoala emerged as the league joint-top scorer after netting 20 goals in 19 league appearances to share the award with Brazilian Geyse Ferreira, who managed the same number of goals in 27 appearances for Madrid CFF.
CAF Awards (2023)
By claiming her historic sixth title in 2023, Oshoala certified her name as the most successful female footballer in African history. Agba Baller was influential for the Super Falcons and was one of the best players at the 2023 Women's World Cup.
“This night, I would love to use this opportunity to thank everyone who has been part of my journey from grassroots football to the national level to the club side. Because without you, my coaches, and my teammates, there will be no me,” Oshoala said in her acceptance speech.
