Mason Greenwood has reportedly told his friends his career as a Manchester United player is over after his rape and assault charges were dropped.
Mason Greenwood has reportedly told his friends he will never play for Manchester United again.
The estranged 21-year-old has already seen his alleged rape and assault charges dropped in February.
However, Greenwood continues to be under internal investigation by the Manchester giants, hence delaying his return to the pitch.
Greenwood, who was initially arrested in January 2022, was expected to join Erik ten Hag's squad after the charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service earlier this year.
But his return to first-team training has been put on hold while the club continues to look into the incident to determine his future at the Theatre of Dreams.
Mason Greenwood reveals his Manchester United dream is over
According to a source close to the forward, 'Mason believes he's finished at United.
'He's sat at home kicking his heels and very frustrated.
'He wants to get back playing football but realises his situation is very complicated and it's his own doing.
'He is determined to play football again but doesn't think he'll ever pull on a United shirt ever again.' a source told The Sun exclusively.
Greenwood was arrested last year after he was of physical and sexual abuse on social media, relating to a period between November 2018 and October 2021.
The England youngster was suspended by Man United, while Nike severed ties with him without compensation, he was also removed as a playable character in EA Sports FIFA 22 game.
Greenwood expected to be re-instated into United’s first-team squad, but commercial executives are believed to be skeptical over his return with concerns about what it impact it could have on the club's reputation, based on the player’s recent history.
For now, the suspended forward remains banned from training but maintains his £70,000 weekly paycheck.
Greenwood’s contract at Old Trafford is set to expire in the summer of 2025.
