Despite becoming the first team to beat Martyrs in Lubaga this season, Asubo remained bottom of the 10-team log with seven points, but Nkugwa is hopeful that they will survive relegation.

Asubo Gafford Ladies FC head coach Rogers Nkugwa was in a braggart mood after defeating former employers Uganda Martyrs WFC.

It was a case of 'I know you better' when Nkugwa's Asubo visited Martyrs at St. Gerald's Grounds on Saturday morning and walked away with a comfortable 3-1 victory.

"I came here well aware of everything that our opponents would offer," Nkugwa said after the game before adding:

"Right from the players, I knew everyone and how they play, and that helped me out as I was preparing my team."

"It has not been an easy game, but my players executed everything according to plan, and I believe with the way we played, we deserve whatever we have taken from this game," he added.

The visitors scored through Sarah Nakuya, Teddy Nyafono, and Kamiyat Naigaga, while Sumaya Nalumu netted the hosts' goal.

Despite becoming the first team to beat Martyrs in Lubaga this season, Asubo remained bottom of the 10-team log with seven points, but Nkugwa is hopeful that they will survive relegation.

"During the transfer window, I signed good players and balanced all the departments looking at this fight for survival in the season's second round."

Nkugwa noted: "We did not start well with a loss to Kampala Queens, but there were positives, and today we showed what exactly we are about."

Asubo, promoted just last season, are four points below the red zone and will be fighting hard not to return to the Elite League immediately.
