The injury scare comes at a crucial time when the Uganda Cranes are about to begin preparations to play Tanzania in a double-header of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Group F qualifier.

Ugandan international Khalid Aucho has calmed his fans after picking an injury during Yanga’s 1-all draw against Real Bamako away in Mali in a CAF Confederations Cup match on Sunday.

The Young Africans midfield kingpin was forced to an early 33rd-minute substitution after failing to recover from a knock.

Leftback Boubacar Traore threw the ball to Makan Samabaly who was overwhelmed by Aucho before being forced to tip over to Ibourahima to clear off but the midfielder was late to a challenge with the Uganda Cranes star before sticking his boot on his knee.

The midfielder was cautioned for the tackle but unfortunately, Aucho failed to recover therefore forcing coach Nasreddine Nabi to replace him with Stephane Aziz Ki.

In a post on his social media, Aucho thanked God for the point and promised his fans that all will be well.

“Not the results we wanted but thank you Allah for giving 1 point away from home see you in Tanzania,” he posted adding that;

“To my people, I will be fine inshallah we are Young African.”

Congolese striker Fiston Mayele scored the opener but Emily Kone’s last-minute equaliser denied the Tanzanians the three points. The two face again this week in Dar Es Salaam.
