Uganda Cranes assistant captain and Young Africans midfielder Khalid Aucho is not about to be moved despite Yanga's defeat on matchday one of the CAF Confederations Cup group stages.

'Teamu ya Wanainchi' lost 2-0 away in Tunisia against Monastir but Aucho, while speaking to Pulse Sports from his base in Dar-Es-Salaam, stated that the defeat only motivates them to perform better.

"It was a setback for us, but we have to pick ourselves up because we are Yanga, a big club," Aucho told Pulse Sports before adding.

"We are now focusing on our next game at home (TP Mazembe); we want to give everything to win it. The CAF competitions require character, which we have as a club.

As he is fondly known, 'Daktari wa mpiira' has now featured in three games after returning from a knock he picked up at the start of the year.

The 29-year-old also appreciates the trust the head coach Nabi Nasreddine has in him, especially when he returned from injury.

"I appreciate the coach's trust in me, and it motivates me to work harder, not disappoint him. So for me, it's down to my hard work on the pitch, and I give 100% because I don't have excuses."

Until December 2022, Khalid Aucho enjoyed a flourishing midfield partnership with Feisul Salum, who is currently locked up in a transfer dispute between his parent club Young Africans and Azam FC.

Aucho says he enjoyed playing with 'Fei Toto' and credits the Zanzibari for his effectiveness on the pitch.

"Fei Toto is a talented player without a doubt, and I miss his effectiveness and the partnership we always had on the pitch. I can only wish him the best wherever he goes."

Khalid Aucho will be expected to lead Yanga when they host TP Mazembe on Sunday, 19th February, in their second CAF Confederations Cup group stage game.
