The Uganda Cranes assistant captain, who has been in Uganda on holiday since June 13th when he led his side to the Azam Sports Federation Cup win over Azam, has returned to Young Africans' training base, Avic Town in Kigamboni.

'Daktari wa mpiira' is back on official club duty, Pulse Sports can confirm.

The Uganda Cranes assistant captain, who has been in Uganda on holiday since June 13th when he led his side to the Azam Sports Federation Cup win over Azam, has returned to Young Africans' training base, Avic Town in Kigamboni.

Aucho, who has missed the better part of the preseason, raising suspicion from the fans if he'll be available for the club's fans' fete, which will climax with a friendly against South African giants Kaizer Chiefs this Saturday, will be available.

The combative holding midfielder played a pivotal role last season as they retained the domestic treble and reached the CAF Confederation Cup final in an unexpected, exciting run.

Young African Vice President Hajji Arafat also allayed the fan's fears about the quality of players both teams will present on the day.

"Mwanainchi day is always the biggest event of our club at the start of every season, and we ensure we give it our best, even in the opponents we play, so Kaizer Chiefs is bringing their first team, and so shall we," Arafat noted.

Dickson Job, Stephanie Aziz Ki, Djigui Diarra and captain Bakari Mwenyoto are some of the other star players back for preseason.

Week ya Mwanainchi is an annual fans' fete where all new club signings are unveiled to the capacity crowd before the hosts face the guest club invited for the event.

Ugandan champions Vipers SC were the guest team in 2022. They beat Young Africans 2-0 in front of a capacity crowd at the Benjamin Mpaka stadium, with captain Milton Karisa and Bright Anukani scoring the goals.

Head coach Angel Miguel Gamondi will hope to get his reign started on a winning note, same for Uganda Cranes defender Gift Fred who joined the side in July on a three-year deal.

The Jangweni-based side has also signed Ivory Coast's MVP last season in Pacome Zouzoua, South African Mahlatse Makudubela, Taifa Stars combative midfielder Jonas Mkude, Yao Attohoula, Maxi Mpia Nzengeli and Nickson Kababage.
