Uganda Cranes assistant captain Khalid Aucho played a vital role as his Yanga side picked up a dominant 5-0 league win over Kagera Sugar FC on Tuesday night at the Chamazi complex, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

Kagera FC is home to Ugandan internationals Deus Bukenya and Hamis Diego Kizza; the latter featured in the entire game.

Burkinabe winger Stephane Aziz Ki scored a hattrick while Bernard Morrison and Fiston Mayele scored the other goals for 'Tiimu ya Wanainchi'.

The win is Yanga's fifth on the bounce and takes them to 68 points, eight clear of arch-rivals Simba, who sit second after 25 games, with both clubs having a game in hand.

The loss left Kagera eighth on the log with 32 points after 26 games played.

Simba and Yanga are expected to square off in the Kariakoo Derby on 16th April at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium.

With both teams having secured their quarter-final spots in their respective CAF interclub competitions, the urge to earn bragging rights will be on the line when the derby takes centre stage.

Simba, with six league games to go, is hoping to start with the derby to cut the eight-point gap and catch up with Yanga as they try to reclaim the Tanzania Premier League.
