CAF CC Aucho's Yanga overcome floodlights scare to seal first-ever CAF CC semifinal berth

Both teams played out a goalless draw on Sunday, which allowed Yanga to advance to the penultimate stage for the first time, having won the first leg 2-0 in Uhyo.

Young Africans SC overcame a floodlight scare at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium to advance to the semifinals of the CAF Confederations Cup against Rivers United.

Both teams played out a goalless draw on Sunday, which allowed Yanga to advance to the penultimate stage for the first time, having won the first leg 2-0 in Uhyo.

The game, however, was interrupted for a while after a floodlight failure; it all started in the 24th minute when the floodlights started going deem one by one.

The game paused, and players gathered at their respective benches as the stadium became darker; 25 minutes later, the lights hadn't returned.

It was at that point that the the referee told both benches to return to their dressing rooms as they waited for the situation to normalize.

The lights later returned to full capacity, and the game resumed from the 25th minute.

Uganda Cranes assistant captain Khalid Aucho featured for the entire game as he anchored the midfield to deny Rivers United any freedom in the middle of the park.

'Tiimu ya Wanainchi' became the first club in East Africa to reach the semifinals of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Khalid Aucho will now face compatriot Ismael Watenga and his Marumo Gallants side for a place in the competition's final.
