Leopards blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with title challengers KCB.

AFC Leopards head coach Patrick Aussems has claimed his side “deserved to lose” against KCB after they blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with the Bankers in a behind-closed-doors game played at the Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.

After Leopards had scored two first-half goals through Peter Thiong'o and captain Eugene Mukangula. KCB had the impetus after the break and dominated throughout, getting two goals and could have scored more were it not for KCB failing to be more clinical.

"Even if we were leading 2-0 at halftime, we deserved to lose this match,” he blasted, "But I would like to thank the federation because they guaranteed my players 200% safety today and we hung on to that draw,” he added.

The Belgian tactician, however, insisted that his side must do better in critical moments of the game, given that they conceded an early second-half goal and a late equalizer.

“There are some crucial moments during a game in the beginning and the end. We conceded three minutes after the break and conceded the lead two minutes from time.

“However, I am happy, that is why I did not make any changes (apart from the substitution of Eric Mbithi for Washington Munene). On Wednesday, I will rotate and you will see a different team. I wanted my players to play 90 minutes.

The tactician still feels concerned and worried by a lack of decisiveness in open play, with both Leopards’ goals coming from set-pieces.

“We scored two goals from set-pieces, one from a freekick and another from a penalty. We created some opportunities but we were not able to score. We need to improve.”
