The Hamza Lutalo-coached side has dominated the FWSL this season. After 12 match days, unbeaten Kampala Queens has racked up 11 wins from 12 games, picking up only one draw.
Simba Queens head coach Charles Ayeikoh might be taking no prisoners in the Serengeti Women’s Premier League, but he is mindful of the other familiar surroundings, especially in Uganda.
The former MUBS, Soana and Maroons head coach takes a minute off his busy schedule to monitor the FUFA Women’s Super League (FWSL) and says the progress of Kampala Queens on and off the pitch can’t be ignored.
The Hamza Lutalo-coached side has dominated the FWSL this season. After 12 match days, unbeaten Kampala Queens has racked up 11 wins from 12 games, picking up only one draw.
Ayeikoh says the team is headed for a clear path because of the level of organization on and off the pitch and is convinced that no one can stop them from being champions.
“Kampala Queens is an excellent team; they have quality,” he told Pulse Sports, adding; “I don’t think there is anything that will stop them from winning the league.”
“I am also sure that when the time comes to play on the continent, they will represent well.”
“Their level of organization is evident on and off the pitch, and for you to succeed in football today, having an organized set-up makes everything seamless.”
The 46-year-old was also quick to stress that the women’s league needs to attract more sponsors and foreign players, which he says is why the Tanzanian league is prospering.
“We need money in our league; the more the money, the more foreigners we have and the better competition in the league,” Ayiekoh explained.
“In Tanzania, sponsors have embraced women’s football, which has attracted foreign players, and it explains why Simba Queens reached the semi-finals of the 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League.”
Simba Queens are leading the Serengeti Women’s Premier League table standings, but despite a slim lead, they have demonstrated the ability to go all the way and reclaim the title.
