The Sugar Millers fell 1-0 to AFC Leopards on Sunday afternoon.

Nzoia Sugar FC coach Salim Babu has made it clear that he is not a man that gives up easily, insisting that he will fight until the end for the FKF-PL trophy.

Babu will not throw in the towel until it is mathematically impossible for his side to win a Football Kenya Federation Premier League title.

Nzoia suffered a massive setback in their pursuit to win their maiden league title in the 41-year history of the club after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of AFC Leopards on Sunday.

The Sugar Millers are now six points behind table leaders Gor Mahia who were held to a goalless draw by Wazito FC on Sunday.

Babu’s troops, in third spot on the log standings, are also four points behind second-placed Tusker FC with five matches to go.

They are left with some difficult matches against relegation-threatened Nairobi City Stars, as well as Kakamega Homeboyz, Kariobangi Sharks, KCB and Sofapaka.

KCB are still fighting for the league title as they are placed fourth on the table. But coach Babu has refused to give up as yet.

“AFC Leopards have not spoiled the party for us because the league is tight, and the point gap between us and our opponents is still reachable.

“All the games are important for us, all the games. The last five games are very important, and we play every game to win,” Babu told reporters after the match.

The goal scored by Peter Thiongo on Sunday resulted from poor defending by Nzoia Sugar, but Babu stated that that was the only chance they got before bemoaning the missed chances by his side.

“We had chances and squandered them, and for them, they created a half chance and utilized it. Otherwise, we will have to lay out a good plan and win the rest of the matches,” Babu added.
