The Thika-based outfit have explained, in detail, the gravity of midfielder's injury.

The 27-year-old player was rushed to hospital by an ambulance during the Football Kenya Federation Premier League encounter at Thika Stadium.

Iregi was on the receiving end of a dangerous tackle by AFC Leopards defender Collins Shivachi at the half an hour mark in the match, which ended 1-1.

The former Thika United winger could not continue for Bidco, and the club has now issued the following statement stating that Iregi suffered fracture to his leg.

“Benson Iregi, who suffered Fibula fracture in the match against AFC Leopards, underwent corrective surgery yesterday (Thursday) evening, and according to the surgeon's report, the process was a success,” a club statement read.

He is currently in the ward recuperating. Our prayers and best wishes are with him.”

Iregi has been one of Bidco's most consistent players this season and has featured regularly for the Thika-based side.

He has played 20 matches across all competitions for Bidco thus far this term.

Bidco will return to Football Kenya Federation Premier League action on Wednesday with a clash against Kenya Police.

Antony Akhulia’s charges are currently 12th on the log with 28 points from 27 matches played so far this season, while their next opponents are placed fifth with 46 points with a game in hand.
