The left-footed winger, who has for the past three seasons featured in the beach soccer league with St Lawrence University, has joined Wakiso Giants on a one-year renewable contract, the club confirmed on Friday afternoon.
“@Bakerezy (Baker Lukoya) is a purple shark, Welcome Baker Lukooya,” Wakiso Giants FC tweeted.
Lukooya becomes the fifth signing for the Wakiso-based side after Mohammed Ssenoga, Mulumba Blancha, Samson Kigozi and Mark Nsubuga.
Lukooya broke onto the scene while turning out for Kiira United FC; he then turned out for Soltilo Bright Stars and Soana before featuring for Kenyan giants AFC Leopards in 2017.
Wakiso Giants, who finished eighth last season, have lost most of their first-team players who have gone on to join different sides.
First was the departures of Ibrahim Kasule and Frank Ssebuufu, who joined New York Red Bulls II.
Moses Aliro and Shariph Kimbowa are the other departures who joined URA FC, while Grant Masiko joined Vipers SC.
The Purple Sharks, who lost 2-0 to KCCA FC in their FUFA Super Eight quarterfinal, will now turn their focus to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League when it gets underway on 15th September.
