The tactician feels the law enforcers have made his job much easier and will be rewarded with the Premier League crown in 2023-24

Kenya Police head coach Francis Baraza has revealed how the conditions at the club have made his chances of delivering a maiden league title for the club are super favourable compared to his time at previous FKF Premier League clubs.

Baraza was in charge of teams like the Chemelil Sugar and SoNy Sugar (both are now defunct), the latter with which he won the 2006 league title with.

The gaffer revealed that he was “having a hard time” in charge of those clubs because he was being forced to use the inter-school games as a platform to scout for new talent to help the clubs achieve their respective objectives due to their limited budgets.

The law enforcers have earned the nickname 'Police Saint-Germain', due to their big spending on top names akin to French giants Paris Saint-Germain and Baraza admits the huge outlay has increased their chances of delivering a maiden league title ten-fold.

“I have been trying to make the most of youthful players in my previous clubs,” Baraza said, adding: “I used to pick up players from these inter-school games like Sony Sugar, Chemelil Sugar and it was never easy. I was having a hard time.”

“I think I am the first Kenyan coach who went to look for kids in the inter-school games since the year 2006. Every team in Kenya has a player that has passed through me, the likes of Joakins Atudo, Fred Ajwang, Ali Abondo and Jaffari Owiti, a few to mention.”

The coached, who also handled Tusker and Tanzania’s Biashara United, believes the whole team must be united if they want their spending to bear fruit.

“Police can win the league if we are all be united, everyone from the board to the coaching staff and the players in order to achieve our goals. If the team grows, we also have to grow,” he added.

Baraza helped Police soar to a record third place last season, having taken over from Sammy 'Pamzo' Omollo two games into the 2022/23 season.
