NPFL Standings: What Abdullahi Biffo's shocking disaster-class at home means for Sporting Lagos
NPFL newbies Sporting Lagos are facing immediate demotion to the second division after a shocking defeat at home to Plateau United.
Alukwu's Brace Not Enough for Victory
However, the visitors let slip the two-goal advantage as Bassey John fired a double to force a share of the spoils.
Despite his impressive performance, Alukwu was displeased with his teammates' actions during the celebrations.
In a social media post, the striker expressed his frustration, saying,
"Goal way I score, Una block me. Una no gree allow me celebrate. Which kind teammates b this ahbeg."
Sporting Lagos' Dismal Season
Alukwu's outburst comes as Sporting Lagos continue to struggle this season, with the team looking doomed for relegation despite the forward's impressive individual campaign.
The 'Tech Boys' have found it challenging to secure victories, and Alukwu's anger reflects the team's overall frustration.
Alukwu has been a standout performer for Sporting Lagos, with his brace against Bayelsa United taking his goal tally to 10 for the season despite the team's dismal performances.
He would extend that to 11 goals last Sunday in a shock defeat at home to Plateau United to leave Sporting in a precarious situation.
The club will be hoping that the striker's continued excellence can inspire a late-season resurgence and steer them away from the relegation zone.
Sporting Lagos take on defending champions Enyimba next at home in Lagos before a trip to Ibadan to battle Shooting Stars in the final game of the season.
