Despite a pelter of a goal by Raphinha, Barcelona were reduced to their second defeat in three LaLiga games.
Former Barcelona player and La Masia graduate Sandro Ramirez was at the forefront of Barcelona’s downfall, opening the scoring for Las Palmas before Portuguese forward Fabio Silva delivered the killer blow in the second half.
The loss sees Barcelona’s position at the top of the table in jeopardy, with rivals Real Madrid only four points behind with two games in hand.
The match began poorly for Barça as Alejandro Balde was stretchered off following a heavy collision with Sandro.
Despite Raphinha striking the crossbar before halftime, the hosts couldn’t capitalise on their chances and were soon punished.
Las Palmas stunned the Catalan side early in the second half when Sandro scored a well-taken opener against the run of play.
Although Raphinha equalised with a brilliant strike from the edge of the box, the parity was short-lived as Fabio Silva latched onto Kirian Rodríguez’s pass to bundle home the winner past Iñaki Peña.
In the dying stages, another ex-Barcelona player, Jasper Cillessen, denied Raphinha with a superb save, sealing Las Palmas’ memorable victory.
