Vitor Roque calls Barcelona move a ‘dream move’, set for Catalonian debut
Barcelona's recent acquisition, Vitor Roque, has sparked excitement across the football world. The 18-year-old Brazilian prodigy, who has just completed his move from Athletico Paranaense, is ready to don the famous Blaugrana jersey until June 2031.
As reported by Cadena Cope, Barcelona tactically utilized Gavi's season-ending injury as a means to register Roque. However, this approach will pose a significant dilemma once Gavi returns for the next season, leaving Barcelona with the task of freeing up €20 million in salary cap space to register Roque.
Currently, the club faces difficulties in meeting this requirement, primarily due to the unresolved €40 million from the sale of Barca Studios, creating complications in terms of the salary limit.
President Joan Laporta and Treasurer Ferran Olive previously provided a bank guarantee in September, enabling new signings to be registered. However, if the awaited funds do not materialize, Laporta and Olive are at risk of losing €12 million of their own money in July.
Barcelona require summer clearouts to register star next season
In addition to the potential financial setback, Barcelona is set to incur added costs with the renewal of Xavi Hernandez and his coaching staff, along with the new contract for Alejandro Balde. T
he report suggests that Gavi currently earns €14 million gross per year, allowing the club to register Roque for the remaining six months of this season. Roque's salary stands at €7.5 million gross, bringing the total just under the €20 million mark.
To re-register Roque for the upcoming season, Barcelona must secure the necessary funds ahead of time, possibly by selling some first team players. While the economic strategies implemented by Laporta played a crucial role in the club's activities last summer, the pending payments and salary cap constraints are proving to be ongoing challenges. Although the club may have a comprehensive plan, current indications suggest that player sales could be on the agenda leading up to the summer transfer window.
