Barcelona set to welcome trio back from injury ahead of LaLiga match
LaLiga giants Barcelona received a significant boost ahead of their crunch tie against Atletico Madrid this weekend with three major team members returning from lengthy injury spells.
Barcelona’s season run-in boosted by the return of key players
The Blaugrana are on course to win LaLiga for the first time since the 2018/19 season, but they have stumbled in recent weeks due to losing a number of key players to injury.
As the season draws to a close, Barcelona will be overjoyed to welcome back three of their injured contingent ahead of their game against Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona will welcome Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Ousmane Dembele back into their fold as the trio resumed training ahead of the match at Camp Nou.
With three of their best performers this campaign back for the season run-in, Barcelona will expect their form to improve after failing to win three matches in a row and going three games without scoring for the first time since 2008.
Barcelona stars return after lengthy absences
De Jong has been out of action for close to a month, missing Barcelona’s last five games and the two games for the Netherlands during the last international break.
Pedri has been missing in action since he was taken off in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 first-leg tie against Manchester United and has been absent from Barcelona’s last 11 games in all competitions.
Dembele has missed the most games of the trio after being injured in Barcelona’s 2-1 win over Girona at the end of January.
The Frenchman has missed 15 games in all competitions for Barcelona since suffering the hamstring injury, including 11 games in LaLiga.
Before the injuries, all three players had shown their quality for the Blaugrana, and have been thoroughly missed in their absences.
Barcelona’s midfield have struggled to control games in the absence of Pedri and de Jong, while they have lacked Dembele’s creative runs and x-factor which saw him contribute directly to 15 goals in 28 games before he got injured.
