Lucy Bronze believes that the Lionesses will have a key advantage over Spain when they play in the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup final
Barcelona full-back Lucy Bronze is set to go up against many of her club teammates when England take on Spain in the final of the Women’s World Cup and the veteran defender strongly believes that the Lionesses have something that could see them edge their opponents on Sunday.
Bronze relishing tie against familiar Spanish team
The 31-year-old defender joined Barcelona from Manchester City in 2022 and has spent the last year getting to know the core of the Spanish team that she will face in the final of the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
At club level, Bronze is currently teammates with La Roja stars like Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas, and quarterfinal and semifinal hero Salma Paralluelo, and she believes that her understanding of her teammates can help the Lionesses overcome Spain in the final.
Ahead of the final, Bronze confirmed her familiarity with the side, saying, "We're going up against a team I personally know very well.”
Bronze reveals England advantage
The England defender was also confident that the Lionesses would get the better of Spain thanks to their experience after winning the 2021 Women’s European Championships.
She said, "We know how to win finals. That's something Spain doesn't have that we have. That's an experience that not only I have but many of these England players have.
Bronze is a serial winner having lifted four UEFA Women’s Champions League titles across spells with Lyon and Barcelona and will want to continue her recent streak with England that has also seen her lift the WEuros and the Women’s Finalissima in just over one year.
