Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining an injury.
Barcelona are set to lose starting centre-back Ronald Araujo for an extended period after the 25-year-old defender sustained an injury on Copa America duty for Uruguay.
Araujo is one of the key players for Barcelona, and at the start of last season, he was named as one of the captains.

Araujo's injury status
The central defender had to be taken off in the Copa America quarter-final triumph against Brazil after he sustained an injury. The initial prognosis forecasted a six-eight weeks period on the sidelines. However, upon further tests, it has been confirmed he will be out for longer.
Per Football Espana, he has ruptured the tendon in the back of his thigh and will have to undergo surgery, which effectively extends the period he will be out for to a minimum of four months.
He is not expected to return until December, throwing a wrench in Barcelona's first half of the season plans and by extension, their summer plans.

What this means for Barcelona
Following Araujo’s error that cost Barcelona a Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain, he lost some goodwill with supporters of the club and came under serious scrutiny.
This has seemingly shaken his conviction, and contrary to his previously held stance, in which he expressly stated his desire to stay at Barcelona in the long term, the Uruguayan has been less unwavering in his commitment to continue at the club.
Also, Barcelona are willing to sell him for the right amount, as they look to bring in money to solve their financial problems. However, this injury could deter suitors and could also force Barcelona to enter the market for a defender.
