I'm happy Barcelona failed to sign Nico Williams — LALIGA president
LALIGA president Javier Tebas speaks to Barcelona's failure to land Nico Williams.
The Euros win with Spain projected Williams in a different light, and he was actively pursued by Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona before the transfer window closed; however, he rejected both approaches and continued at Athletic.
What Williams said
In a recent interview, he revealed that he idolises the aforementioned wingers. He praised their dribbling ability and said that he tries to copy their moves in his own game.
"[Mbappe and Dembele] are great players and role models for me," Williams told AS. "They are unique; they have incredible dribbling skills; I often take their game to mine; I try to copy the plays they make. It is very good for me to learn from the best."
Williams turned down the chance to become teammates with Dembele this summer, as he passed on the opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain.
However, he is believed to be open to joining Barcelona and the Blaugrana will reportedly return for him next summer.
