Dani Alves could potentially be released from prison as early as June after serving a year.
In the clash against the Azulones this evening, however, Barcelona were unforgiving and efficient as they put four past the Madrid-based team, while keeping a clean sheet.
How it happened
Barcelona made changes to the lineup that started in the draw at Napoli in the middle of the week, with Raphinha and Joao Felix starting their first game since returning from injury, in place of young Pedri and the even younger Lamine Yamal.
The Blaugrana were utterly dominant in the encounter and they started how they meant to go on, finding runners in behind Getafe’s highline.
They found the opener at the 20th-minute mark, when Jules Kounde’s diagonal beat the Azulones backline and found Raphinha in space. The Brazil international took it in stride before calmly placing the ball beyond the reach of David Soria.
Barcelona had chances to compound the scoreline in that half, but Raphinha and Joao Felix were both guilty of ill decision-making in the final third. The second half, however, saw utter ruthlessness from the hosts.
The former Leeds man was once again involved as Barcelona made it two in the 53rd minute. He played a through ball into space for the overlapping Andreas Christensen, who in turn squared for Joao Felix, who only had to tap in.
They did not have to wait as long for another, as in the 61st minute, Raphinha teed up Frenkie de Jong to fire Barcelona three up.
Fermin Lopez was rightly positioned to rebound a saved Vitor Roque attempt to make it four in the 91st minute as Barcelona won big and moved temporarily into second place.
