The Barcelona starlet is making good progress in his recovery after suffering a terrible ACL injury while on international duty with Spain
Barcelona's talented young midfielder Gavi is making steady progress on his road to recovery after a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
He sustained this injury while playing for Spain in a UEFA European Championship (Euro 2024) qualifier game against Georgia in November 2023. The injury was significant, as it included a complete tear in the ACL and an associated injury to the lateral meniscus, as per reports from Football Espana
Gavi’s return to Training
Following his return to Catalonia, Gavi underwent surgery and has spent the last two months in recovery. Recently, there has been an important development in his rehabilitation journey.
Barcelona has shared images of Gavi back in light training at their Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training base. These images mark the first time he has been seen without crutches since the injury, indicating a positive step forward in his recovery.
Gavi’s expected return date
However, despite this progress, Gavi is set to miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The timeline for recovery from such injuries is usually over eight months, meaning Gavi will also be unable to participate in Euro 2024 with Spain. Barcelona is carefully managing his return, ensuring not to rush the process to avoid any setbacks. The club plans a cautious approach to his preseason comeback.
This injury has been a significant blow for both Barcelona and the Spanish national team, with Gavi being a key player in both squads. His absence was felt deeply, but the recent news of his return to light training has brought a sense of optimism about his future contributions once fully fit.
