Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey wants his hardware after the Emirates FA Cup acknowledged his fantastic performance against Man United but forgot the award at Old Trafford.

In the aftermath of Fulham's historic FA Cup victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford, Nigerian defender Calvin Bassey has expressed his surprise and disappointment at not being named the Man of the Match. 

Despite delivering a standout performance, Bassey's efforts were overshadowed by Bruno Fernandes, who received the award on Sunday night.

Bassey scored the crucial opener for Fulham, his first-ever goal in the FA Cup, which set the tone for a dramatic match that eventually ended in a penalty shootout victory for the Cottagers. 

This victory was a historic one for the visitors as it marked Fulham's first over Manchester United in the competition since 1908.

The Emirates FA Cup acknowledged Bassey's impressive display on their social media platform, X, stating; 

"Calvin Bassey was incredible at both ends of the pitch for @FulhamFC today."

However, Bassey responded to this praise by questioning why he didn't receive the Man of the Match award, which was given to Fernandes. 

Bassey's response included a raised eyebrow emoji, accompanied by the phrase, "No man of the match."

Statistically, Bassey's performance was exceptional. He completed the most passes, was the most fouled player, and successfully completed 100% of his dribbles. 

Defensively, he won 100% of his tackles, made 11 clearances, seven recoveries, six headed clearances, three interceptions, and 11 defensive actions. 

These numbers highlight his significant contribution to Fulham's victory, making his omission from the Man of the Match award all the more puzzling.

Bassey's reaction shows his pride in his performance and his desire for recognition, which many fans and pundits believe he deserved given his decisive role in Fulham's historic win.
