Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is among the players being considered to solve Bayern Munich's midfield crisis before the end of the summer transfer window
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are reportedly considering a move for Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi as they look to secure a defensive midfielder before the end of the summer transfer window.
Bayern eye Ndidi signing
The Super Eagles midfielder was relegated with Leicester City from the Premier League last season and is believed to be an option for the Bavarians, who are in need of a specialist defensive midfielder.
Ndidi has been forced into a more advanced role in Leicester City’s midfield in the 2023/24 season by new Foxes boss Enzo Maresca, but he could be returned to his preferred defensive midfield role with a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

Bayern desperate for midfield anchor
Bayern Munich’s need for a defensive anchor has been expressed by manager, Thomas Tuchel, who does not see Joshua Kimmich, a regular starter in that position for the Bavarians, as an ideal candidate for the role.
As a result, Bayern Munich could look to secure a defensive midfielder late in the transfer window, with Ndidi, as well as PSV’s Ivorian midfielder, Ibrahim Sangaré, and Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni identified as targets for the Bavarians.
Bayern Munich face competition for Sangare from Liverpool, who are also keen on the 25-year-old, while Real Madrid have maintained their commitment to keeping Tchouameni despite recent midfield additions, meaning that a move for Ndidi who would be a relatively cheaper option to both players will be seriously explored by the German giants.
