Bayern Munich defeated Vfb Stuttgart 2-1 to move back to the top of the Bundesliga.
Bayern Munich returned to the top of the Bundesliga table with a 2-1 victory over Stuttgart, thanks to goals from Matthijs de Ligt and Eric Choupo-Moting.
How it happened
Bayern began the game in positive fashion, dominating play and creating chances.
The first big chance of the game went the way of the visitors, when Fabian Bredlow produced a fantastic save to keep out Leon Goretzka’s header from point-blank range.
De Ligt scored the opening goal of the game for Bayern. A long range drive aided by the weak wrists of goalkeeper Bredlow, who should have done better.
Thomas Muller played a lovely through ball to Cameroon international Choupo-Moting to finish off a fine team move in the second half as the visitors doubled their advantage.
Stuttgart fought hard to create openings and gave themselves a lifeline when Juan Jose Perea nodded in a cross late on.
Despite the late rally from Stuttgart, Bayern held on for a crucial victory to go back to the summit of the Bundesliga.
