South African legend Benni McCarthy has reportedly decided on the men who will join his technical bench when he takes over as Harambee Stars coach.
Incoming Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy has decided to bring his trusted lieutenants with him when he takes over the Kenya national team job.
McCarthy is set to arrive in Nairobi on Wednesday ahead of his unveiling on Friday and among his backroom staff will be two trusted allies whom he has worked with at his previous jobs.
According to South African outlet iDiski Times, McCarthy will name seasoned South African coach Vasili Manousakis as his assistant while his former Orlando Pirates team-mate Moeneeb Josephs will be his goalkeeper trainer.

CHAN 2024: Why Kenya is set to make history after major facility milestone
Kenya is ramping up preparation co-host the postponed 2024 CHAN games and the 2027 AFCON.
Manousakis is the latest name to be linked with McCarthy’s backroom staff after Josephs’ imminent appointment was revealed earlier on Monday but unlike the goalkeeper trainer, he will not be among the new tactician’s entourage in Nairobi this week, as he is still contracted to South African club Cape Town Spurs.
Cape Town Spurs are fighting relegation in the South African second tier and Manousakis, who is currently the assistant coach, is considered vital for their push to avoid the drop.
McCarthy will therefore arrive in Nairobi with Josephs ahead of his unveiling as he works to complete the setup of his technical bench that is also set to include some Kenyan coaches.

Why Kishane Thompson's reported decision to take part in World Indoor Championships is bad news for Noah Lyles
Why Kishane Thompson's decision to take part in the World Indoor Championships could be bad news for his competitors, especially Noah Lyles.
The Bafana Bafana legend knows both Manousakis and Josephs very well as he worked with them during his stint as AmaZulu coach, when he led the club to second place in the South African top flight, their best-ever, before guiding the team to the CAF Champions League group stages.
The former Cape Town City tactician is taking over a national team job for the first time, having been Manchester United’s first-team coach between July 2022 and June 2024, when he worked as the club’s attacking coach.
Football Kenya Federation hopes McCarthy will be the man to turn around the fortunes of Harambee Stars after many years of struggle and he will reportedly sign a two-year contract.
