Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala is reported to have attracted the interest of the Algerian club who are exploring the possibility of signing him
Gor Mahia striker Benson Omala is back in the news over a possible move away from the club with the latest reports linking him to Algerian side USM Alger.
Omala, who was heavily linked with a departure from the 20-time Kenyan champions after last season, has continued to deliver on the pitch and is said to be attracting the interest of the eight-time Algerian champions.
The reports claim the agents handling the deal have started talks although it is still not clear if Gor Mahia have been informed of USM’s interest.

FOOTBALL Posta Rangers vs Gor Mahia: K’Ogalo keen to preserve unbeaten run in top of the table clash
FKF Premier League leaders Gor Mahia will be keen to maintain their unbeaten record as they visit second-placed Posta Rangers in Saturday’s highlight match
“I am hearing this from you. This is a subject I would not wish to comment on now,” said a source from Gor Mahia who did not wish to be named.
Omala was linked with moves within Africa and beyond the continent after firing in a record-equaling 26 goals in the FKF Premier League last season as he led K’Ogalo to a 20th title.
South African giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as well as Tanzanian champions Yanga were among the clubs rumoured to be monitoring him but a deal did not materialise.
It remains to be seen if the latest reports will lead to an offer and how Gor would react to such a situation.
Omala is an integral part of coach Johnathan McKinstry’s side and the tactician would not wish to lose him mid-way through the season when his team are seeking to retain their title.
The striker has continued doing his talking on the pitch and currently lead’s the goal scoring charts in the league with eight goals.

Omala missed out on the title of top scorer last season after Elvis “Machapo” Rupia narrowly beat him to the award by scoring a record-breaking 27 goals.
USM are one of the top sides in Algeria and Africa and won the CAF Confederation Cup last season after overcoming Yanga in the final.
Gor and USM know each other well having faced each other four times, two matches each in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, between 2018 and 2019 with K’Ogalo losing three of them.
However, they are currently struggling in the Algeria top flight where they are 13th in the 16-team league with 11 points from nine matches, 17 behind leaders MC Alger.
