Sources have indicated that the third competition which the Russian-owned betting behemoth might extend its partnership to the FUFA Big League – Uganda's second-division football league.

Global gaming juggernaut 1XBet is on the brink of cementing a major commercial agreement with the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA).

Pulse Sports has learned that the deal will see 1XBet sponsor three premier FUFA competitions, solidifying its commitment to the sport in the country.

Two of the championships under this collaboration have been identified as the Futsal Super League and the FUFA Drum.

Sources have indicated that the third competition which the Russian-owned betting behemoth might extend its partnership to the FUFA Big League – Uganda's second-division football league.

If this comes to fruition, the Big League, which currently lacks a title sponsor, could soon don the new moniker: the 1XBet FUFA Big League, among other possible ventures.

This potential move for the Big League sponsorship has raised eyebrows, especially in the context of the league's existing media commitments.

While the Uganda Premier League’s sponsorship with StarTimes was anticipated to cascade down to the second division, the latter's decreasing involvement has opened the door for new opportunities.

However, it's important to note that StarTimes still holds the broadcasting rights to the Big League, with games broadcast on FUFA TV and formerly on Next Media’s Sanyuka TV.

The Futsal Super League (FSL), supervised by the Futsal Association of Uganda (an affiliate member of FUFA), has experienced significant growth since its inception in 2016 as the Futsal Mini League.

As the FSL readies for its eighth season, Yeak Yebowa basks in the glory of their recent triumph, having clinched the championship title by defeating rivals Kisenyi Futsal Club 2-1 on the season's final day.

Meanwhile, the FUFA Drum, an inter-province football bonanza, has played a pivotal role in popularizing the sport across Uganda.

Its impressive commercial trajectory is evident in its partnerships with iconic brands like MTN, Nile Special, and Rock Boom.

The tournament's most recent edition witnessed the West Nile Province clinch victory with a 3-2 aggregate win over Lango Province.

Buganda Province and Acholi Province had reigned supreme in the 2018 and 2019 editions, respectively.
