Kitara lead the table with 47 points followed by Mbarara City and Nec on 44 while Police is fourth on 43.
Angelo Lonyesi concurs that this season’s FUFA Big League is one of the toughest that has ever been as regards the fight for promotion.
The Police coach was calming fears that his team is unstable and may not qualify but has urged the fans to support until the final day.
Police beat Luweero United 5-2 on Thursday in Kavumba to move within a point of second and third-placed Mbarara City and Nec. Both are on 44 points.
“The league will be decided at the last moment so we have no need to panic but concentrate on getting results from our games,” Lonyesi said after the victory.
“This win has given us some weight, but unfortunately, we conceded two that affected our goal difference.
Home advantage
The Cops have managed only one win away out of the 11 victories, and their coach is urging the team to grab all the points from their remaining home games this season.
“Mbarara and Kitara failed to win [away] just to show you how the season is tough. That means we have to beat all the teams that come to our place in the remaining home matches. We shall reach the last game when the three teams are not yet not known,” he added.
Police will host Adjumani, Nothern Gateway and Jinja North in their remaining games at Kavumba. They will travel to Soroti City, Kaaro Karungi and Booma.
