Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan keeps giving back to the game that made him who he is today.

However, the third edition is expanded and will feature teams from Togo, Nigeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Ivory Coast, a change Gyan says was entirely made to give more players attention and encourage them to chase their dreams.

“I believe in grassroots football,” said Ghana’s all-time top scorer at the FIFA World Cup.

“And the attention has been a bit low, so we’re trying to give these young players attention so that we can encourage them to do more and achieve their dreams,” Gyan added.

The Baby Jet U-16 tournament is expected to run from the 6th to the 13th of June at the Cape Coast stadium in Ghana, and will also aim to educate the youngsters on different aspects of life.

“We are trying our best to educate them as well; not many young players have this opportunity, so hopefully, they enjoy themselves.”

The games will be broadcast live on Supersport TV for the first time.

Asamoah Gyan needs no introduction on the African football scene; he is Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer with 51 goals.

‘Baby Jet’ is also the first Ghanaian to score at a world cup, the 2006 World Cup was Ghana’s first appearance, and Gyan scored against the Czech Republic, and he was also Africa’s top scorer at the World Cup with six goals.

The 2010 BBC African Footballer of the Year featured several clubs like Sunderland, Udinese, Al Ain, and Shanghai SIPG, to mention but a few.
