FBL Booma wants to fight beyond the ‘giant-slayer’ tag

Despite lying 9th on the table, with about 12 points off the promotion places and just one above the red lights, Arinaitwe still feels his side is on the right path.

Probably, there’s no other team in the StarTimes FUFA Big League that has been able to torment the top teams like Booma has this season.

Their recent 1-1 draw away to Kitara was a testament that the Fred Arinaitwe-coached side has the right ingredients to cause upsets but he wants the team to do more than just that.

Despite lying 9th on the table, with about 12 points off the promotion places and just one above the red lights, Arinaitwe still feels his side is on the right path.

“We haven’t been performing that bad given that this is our first season,” he told Pulse Sports on phone.

“We are neither a one-time wonder nor a random giant killer and want to prove that by pushing the big boys until the end. We needed to learn a few things which we did in the first half of the first round. now we can push more than just fighting against the big teams.

Arinaitwe is happy that his largely inexperienced team has put up a show against the big boys but wants that same spirit when they meet the other teams starting with Luweero United on Thursday.

“We didn’t just put up that performance against Kitara because it was a derby, we managed to get a point from Police and Mbarara City, beat Ndejje University and narrowly lost to NEC.

“These teams have experience at this level and above. You could see that the experience cost us three points because where we failed, we lost in the final minutes. We’re improving but need to put the same energy against all the other teams,” he added.
