Brazil vs Nigeria: Flying Eagles suffer first defeat at FIFA U20WC

After a brilliant outing against Italy, Nigeria was no match for the junior Samba Boys from Brazil in the final group match at the FIFA U20WC.

Nigeria suffered its first defeat at the 2023 FIFA U20 FIFA World Cup after a miserable outing against Brazil.

Brazil proved to be too good following an easy 2-0 win over the Nigerian Flying Eagles in the final match of their group stages.

Brazil netted both goals in the first half thanks to Jean Pedroso and Arsenal star Marquinhos.

Brazil finish ahead of Nigeria

Ladan Bosso and his boys had already booked a spot in the knockout stage heading into the game against Brazil.

The Flying Eagles were looking to maintain their 100% start in the competition which will see them finish top of Group D but met a bulwark in the former champions.

Nigeria started well and on the front foot with Jude Sunday rattling the Brazilian post early on.

However, the Samba Boys took control of proceedings at La Plata and never looked back thereafter.

The Flying Eagles battled Brazil at the Estadio Único Diego Armando Maradona, La Plata.
Nigeria qualifies as one of the best losers.

The South American dominated the encounter after surviving that early attack from Nigeria and deservedly went into the break with a two-goal lead.

In the second half, it was more of the same as Brazil came close to adding to the scoreline on several occasions while Nigeria once again hit the post in search of a goal.

In the end, Brazil held on to the win that sees them top Group D with six points, the same as Nigeria who dropped to third in the group after Italy smashed Dominican Republic 3-0 in the other group game on the night.
