Emmanuel Loki's sole goal at the Ababet Greenlight Stadium on Wednesday ensured the Caterpillars stayed unrivalled at the base with just 13 points.
Onduparaka FC's future in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League couldn't take a worse turn after succumbing to a 1-0 defeat to Soltilo Bright Stars FC, leaving them isolated at the bottom of the 15-team log.
Emmanuel Loki's sole goal at the Ababet Greenlight Stadium on Wednesday ensured the Caterpillars stayed unrivalled at the base with just 13 points.
Onduparaka trail 14th-placed Blacks Power FC by six points after 21 games.
They are now nine points behind 13-placed Busoga United, who occupy the final position needed to survive relegation.
Meanwhile, having picked their first league win in five matches, Bright Stars ascended to 10th with 27 points, just six off the top four.
On the evening in Arua, Bright Stars bossed proceedings in terms of goalscoring opportunities and on a different day, the scoreline could have been harsher for the hosts.
Nelson Senkatuka nearly gave the guests a 35-minute lead, but Aziz Mandela made a timely interception to leave it locked.
At the stroke of halftime, Bright Stars should have been ahead, but goalkeeper Anthony Okello brilliantly saved Loki's first-time shot off Ibrahim Kasinde's delivery.
Moments later, Loki was not to be denied as he capitalised on a poorly defended corner from substitute Noordin Bunjo to stab home for the day's only goal.
Asaph Mwebaze's side will return to action next Tuesday against the rejuvenated Express FC at Kavumba.
Meanwhile, two days earlier, Onduparaka will be away to Wakiso Giants FC, hoping to turn their season back on track.
