The Brewers are looking to reclaim the title they lost last season to Gor Mahia with new signing Collins Odhiambo itching for success.

Tusker FC right-back Collins Odhiambo is relishing the competition for places after signing from FKF Cup holders Kakamega Homeboyz in September and is also looking to win a league title with the Brewers.

The marauding fullback signed a one-year contract with the 12-time league champions, which will see him replace Kevin Monyi, who departed the club following the expiry of his deal earlier this year.

He will be competing for starting berths alongside versatile academy product Jimmy Mbugua as well as Harambee Stars right back Daniel Sakari.

Speaking to Pulse Sports, Odhiambo insisted that the team must come first ahead of individual interests when asked whether he aims to be the starting right back at Tusker.

“We need to embrace teamwork. You should not think of it as you want to make it on your own. It is a job. We need to work together. When you are selected, do the best for your team," Odhiambo said.

“If, as Collins, I am out of the team, I will support whoever is playing because even when the other player is outside, he is supporting me. So I have to be positive both when I am on the pitch and also off it.”

Meanwhile, Odhiambo is itching to deliver his maiden league title with the club this season, having already added the FKF Cup medal to his cabinet with Abana Beingo last season.

“What I want right now is to try and at least win the league,” Odhiambo said. “I want to have a league winners’ medal then become among the best defenders,” he added.

“As long as you are at a big club, you have a lot of advantages. I hope that this season, things will be good."

“This team can achieve anything. We can do and achieve anything. This team is youthful. We are young and everyone is ready to work.”

Odhiambo has revealed that Robert Matano has already played a big part in helping him settle at the club, describing him as a “positive” influence.

“Everything is good with the coach. Everything is positive. He is encouraging me and he is the one who asks me to do this and that.

“He knows me. I have played against his teams a lot of times especially when I was back at Homeboyz and he himself was feeling the weight I was putting on his side.”
