Kampala Queens, Commerical Bank of Ethiopia and Buja Queens are all tied on three points in Group A.

Buja Queens complicated Kampala Queens' chances in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers after beating the Ugandan champions 2-1 for their first win at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

Kenyan international striker Teopista Situma scored in either half to restore the Burundians' hope following their opening day loss to commercial Bank of Ethiopia.

Situma unlocked the game in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a lapse in Kampala Queens' defence.

Another Kenyan striker Elizabeth Wambui punished Kampala Queens for their loss of concentration, pouncing on a fair play drop ball before running to the corner flag to deliver a cross.

The delivery found the Ugandans back-peddling and her compatriot Situma unmarked inside the area.

Situma met the cross with a thumping, bouncing header for the goal.

Coach Charles Ssenyange was then forced to withdraw Margaret Kunihira for Catherine Nagadya immediately after.

Situma completed her brace seven minutes into the second half pouncing on Daisy Nakaziro’s error to tap in.

The Burundians made a stinging move from Corazone Aquina in the midfield through Wambui on the right wing.

The winger crossed, but Nakaziro came out to intercept, only to spill the ball into Situma’s path.

Tactical blunder?

Ssenyange had made four changes to the team that started against Yei Joint Stars slotting in Kunihira, Shakira Nyinagahirwa, Zainah Namuleme and Samalie Nakacwa. He was later forced to remove all of them in the second half for Hadija Nandago, Jamila Nabulime, Florence Ibanizabayo and Elizabeth Nakigozi.

The latter proved her worth by pulling back one from a freekick following a foul on Imanizabayo.

The result leaves Kampala on top courtesy of their superior goal difference as Buja Queens and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia are tied in all statistics.

The Ethiopians play FAD from Djibouti in the second match. The top two teams in the groups advance to the semifinal.
