Article 15 (11) of the FUFA Competition Rules states that “Each club shall be required to provide its own medical team and the home club shall provide First Aid and emergency facilities including but not limited to an ambulance.”

FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel (CDP) has fined Busoga United shs 1 million for failing to provide an ambulance during the Uganda Premier League clash with Maroons.

The Prison Warders won the match 1-0 courtesy of a Darius Ojok 72nd-minute strike.

The match that took place on February 9th at the FUFA Technical Centre witnessed an ugly scene at the end of the first half when Maroons' midfielder Sula Mpanga suffered a concussion.

The player failed to respond to first aid and needed to be evacuated for further assessment and treatment. To the dismay of many, there was no ambulance at that time inside the stadium forcing Maroons to use a private car.

The issue was forwarded to FUFA for further action.

Negligence

Both Maroons and Busoga United confirmed that there was an ambulance in place at the time during the pre-match inspections.

Busoga, however, stated that the service provider rushed out during the game to handle another emergency.

Pulse Sports established that the ambulance crossed over to the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe to attend the FUFA Big League match between Jinja North United and Ndejje University.

The university side, who were away, refused to kick off the game without an ambulance in place forcing the hosts to call the one at Njeru for support.

Breach

The CDP found Busoga guilty of breaching the FUFA competitions rules:

“Busoga United FC were therefore charged with breach of the FUFA Competition Rules for failure to make available an ambulance during the course of the match.”

Article 15 (11) of the FUFA Competition Rules states that “Each club shall be required to provide its own medical team and the home club shall provide First Aid and emergency facilities including but not limited to an ambulance.”

Busoga United was issued a warning and ordered to pay the fine promptly. Should they fail to pay, then UPL is directed to deduct from their sponsorship money.
