FKFPL Bwire slams the gauntlet at league leaders Gor Mahia

The shot stopper gives two main reasons why he feels K’Ogalo are not going to pip Brewers to the crown.

Goalkeeper Brian Bwire has asserted that Tusker are going to win the Football Kenya Federation Premier League title again.

The Brewers are second to Gor Mahia at this juncture, but with two points separating them, it points to a potentially tight race to the end.

However, the Tuskers' number one goalkeeper is confident they will withstand the pressure from their rivals and defend the title.

"The season has not been bad so far, although we have had ups and downs, but I can count more positives," Bwire noted in an interview with the club’s website.

"We have had a lot of injuries, but at least now we have players who have returned after recovery.

"We are going to be champions for the third time in a row because we have quality, we have experience, and at least as Tuskers, we are lucky."

The former Kariobangi Sharks goalkeeper pointed out what gives them an advantage over other clubs in the top-tier.

"We have young and experienced players. We have everything, and we believe that we need to win the league," added the Harambee Star.

"Nearly everybody in the team has stood out; even the new players have come and settled well, and I can say every player has stood out.

"We have a coach [Robert Matano] who is a born winner, and we have a top goalkeeping coach [Duncan Ochieng] who was at the top during his playing days, especially with the national team.

"Both coaches want players to give their all."

However, the congestion of fixtures, according to the shot-stopper, is the main challenge that teams have had to deal with.

"This season, we are dealing with one game at a time because our league started a little bit late and we have had to deal with fixture congestion," he concluded.

"We play in the midweek and over the weekends, but we will try to tackle every game at a time."

After beating KCB, the Ruaraka-based side is set to face Nairobi City Stars in their next game.
