Up front, Milutin Sredojevic has elected to go with Fahad Bayo, who netted his first goal of the campaign against Algeria.

Iceland based defender Elvis Bwomono has got the nod to start for Uganda Cranes in their crucial encounter with Niger Thursday night.

The defender will start ahead of Kenneth Semakula, who has been the mainstay at right-back in this qualification campaign.

There is also a place for Bevis Mugabi, who will partner Halid Lwaliwa at centre back. Lwaliwa played with Gift Fred in the Cranes’ 2-1 loss to Algeria the last time out.

Aziz Kayondo has retained his place at leftback to complete the back four that is expected to protect goalkeeper Salim Jamal, who retains his place despite the howler he committed against Algeria.

Khalid Aucho will wear the captain’s armband and partner Bobosi Byaruhanga in the holding midfield role while Milton Karisa, Faruku Miya and Joseph Ochaya complete the midfield puzzle.

Up front, Milutin Sredojevic has elected to go with Fahad Bayo, who netted his first goal of the campaign against Algeria.

Ibrahim Kasule and Frank Sebuufu, who have been shining since crossing to play in the US, will have to wait for their chance from the bench, just like Rogers Mato, who scored the goal that ensured Uganda stayed in contention.

The Cranes need more than a result to progress out of Group F to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.

For as long as Tanzania avoid defeat against Algeria in Algiers, there will be no place for the Cranes at AFCON.

Uganda will, therefore, need to win first, and then hope that Tanzania fall to unbeaten Algeria.
