Only Abuja and Uyo can serve as home grounds for Nigeria's March 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
According to an announcement by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) only the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja and, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, can serve as home venues for the Super Eagles' 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
From March 2023, African nations will return to attempting to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) by participating in a series of qualification matches.
The 34th edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place from January 7 to February 4, 2024.
CAF lists accepted host stadiums for each country
Following the announcement, 24 nations would play their home matches at a neutral venue after CAF deemed their home stadiums to be subpar by standards.
For Nigeria, only two stadiums: the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja and, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, were approved by Africa's football governing body.
Eight stadiums were approved for South Africa, six for North African giants Egypt and five for Algeria, making the three countries those with the highest number of approved stadia.
Super Eagles to resume qualifiers March
The Super Eagles will resume their qualification series with a home fixture against Guinea-Bissau on March 21, before travelling to a selected venue to take on the Djurtus.
Nigeria's Group A opponents Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe are all part of countries listed by CAF to play their home qualifying fixtures away from their country.
The Super Eagles currently lead Group A with six points after wins over Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.
