Gor Mahia lost their first leg in Juba, 1-0, to South Sudan Premier League champions Al Merreikh Bentiu.

The record Kenya Premier League champions and current holders Gor Mahia are a gearing up for their second leg fixture against Sudanese side Al Merreikh Bentiu at the Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.

This will be the second leg fixture following a similar one that was held in Juba that saw K'Ogalo fall narrowly to their opponents.

In the first leg, Mohamed Elfaki scored a crucial goal in the second half that turned out to be the winner.

K'Ogalo could not capitalize on the remaining time they had left as their opponent's tactics pulled out time wasting tactics that have been criticized by Gor Mahia's head coach Leonardo Neiva.

To win this fixture Gor Mahia have to maintain a clean sheet and score twice in order to go through to the next round.

Despite their inability to equalize Gor Mahia had moments of good play as they were able to create multiple chances throughout the match.

The winner of this fixture will go head to head with the reigning and record champions Al Ahly.

Goalkeeper Kevin Omondi will be well-protected by defenders Sylvester Owino, Joshua Onyango, Alphonse Omija, and captain Geoffrey “Simiti” Ochieng.

In midfield, Ghanian import Enoch Morisson and Alpha Onyango will team up with FKF 2023/24 Most Valuable Player Austin Odhiambo.

Onyango is expected to play as a right wing-back, with Levin Odhiambo on the left.

Up front, Congolese import Gideon Bendeka will lead the attack alongside either Boniface Omondi or the promising young talent Chris Ochieng.

Furthermore, there are no injury concerns for any of the players as it has been confirmed by the team doctor of Gor Mahia.
