Vipers SC and Botswana outfit Jwaneng Galaxy will meet in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League after a draw held on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt.

The two sides have both been previously coached by Portuguese tactician, Jorge Miguel Da Costa Duarte.

After exiting Vipers in 2018 following his league triumph in the 2017/18 season, it didn't take Da Costa too long to land his next job, joining Jwaneng Galaxy.

The UEFA A License holder was snapped by the Botswana outfit and worked there for the next two years, guiding them to their first ever league title in 2020.

After the success there, the 42 year-old instantly departed to Libyan side, Al-Ittihad, where he traded for two years, till 2022.

Meanwhile, both Vipers and Jwaneng don't have rich continent history and each will thus feel the draw is relatively easy.

Jwaneng's first and only participation in the group stages was in the 2021/22 season where they finished at the base, with just a point in Group C behind Etoile du Sahel, CR Belouizdad and Esperance de Tunis.

On the other hand, Vipers maiden group stage involvement was last season, as they finished bottom with two points in Group C, behind Horoya AC, Simba SC and Raja Casablanca.

With both teams eager to hit their second group stages in history, stout opposition awaits between one of Comoros' Djabal FC and South Africa's Orlando Pirates in the next round.
