The Tusker coach was not impressed by those who labelled his side ‘outdated’ as they assumed the league leadership
Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has offered a brutal response to his detractors, saying they will not stop him from winning.
Matano saw his side move to the summit of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) table following their 2-0 victory over basement side Wazito FC on Wednesday but the four-time title-winning coach was not impressed by those questioning his style.

The young attacker also opened up about his impressive form since the start of second leg of the season.
The 58-year-old was particularly irked by a commentary that labelled Tusker ‘outdated’ as he felt it was off the mark since he has nothing to prove as his side stays in the hunt for a second straight crown.
“If you have watched all our games, you will see how we have been playing. I do not see how a team that puts together 21 passes before scoring a goal can be playing outdated football,” Matano said.
“Every coach has his own style of play and knows the players he has in the team. I cannot play like any other team. I cannot play like Gor Mahia or any other team, I will play like Matano and Tusker, Gor will play their style. That is why we are competing. We are not the same.
“Do not just write anything because it is Matano. I will win, you will keep writing but I will win. Even the President was called names but he won the elections. Even me, you will call me whatever you want but I will continue winning.”

FKFPL Where Gor Mahia and Tusker can win or lose FKFPL title as season enters homestretch
The two teams are engaged in a fascinating contest but their next seven matches will decide the destiny of the coveted league crown
Matano’s side are the form team, having put together a six-match winning run in the league with their last defeat coming on February 8 when they lost 2-1 to Gor Mahia.
The Brewers' relentlessness has seen them claw back Gor Mahia’s lead to overtake K’Ogalo and now occupy the summit on 54 points, one ahead of the 19-time champions, setting up a fascinating title run-in.
Matano remains the most successful coach currently in the Kenyan top flight, having won three league titles in 2012, 2021, and with Tusker as well as the 2009 crown with Sofapaka in what was their maiden season in the top tier.

FKFPL Matano reveals reasons Tusker failed perform well despite Wazito win
The Brewers moved to the summit of the log with the victory over Wazito.
The coach’s strong stance highlights why Tusker cannot afford to allow such distractions in their camp as their two next matches will test their mettle.
Tusker come up coming up against third and fourth placed Nzoia Sugar and KCB respectively, both on 48 points, and still with a mathematical chance of challenging for the title.
