The Uganda Rhinos have impressively advanced to the semi-finals of the 2023 CECAFA U-15 Championship.
Under the guidance of coach Hamza Lutalo, they triumphed in all their Group A matches at Njeru, boasting a remarkable record of 22 goals scored and none conceded.
Their campaign began with a resounding 15-0 win over Djibouti, followed by victories against South Sudan (3-0) and Ethiopia (4-0).
Key players Enock Bagenda and Richard Okello stood out, contributing six and four goals respectively.
"We have finished the group stages with a good performance. We were unbeaten and didn't concede any goals. Now, our focus shifts to the knockout stages,” Lutalo then said.
He acknowledged the challenges ahead: "Our aim is to reach the final and defend our title, but it's not going to be easy. The remaining teams are strong competitors."
In the semi-finals, Uganda is set to face Zanzibar, who secured second place in Group B. Meanwhile, Group B leaders Tanzania will compete against South Sudan, the runners-up in Group A.
The much-awaited semifinals are scheduled for Monday, November 13, with the final set for Thursday, November 16, in Njeru.
